ONE MONTH BEFORE YOUR MOVE:
 LET’S GET STARTED!
Take inventory of your home; decide what you wish to keep and what you should get rid of.
Set up a moving file for all important documents (school and medical records, legal documents, banking/financial documents,
receipts and warranties) that you will take with you in your “overnight” luggage. Remember your currency and jewelry!
Have a yard/garage sale to get rid of things you don’t need to bring with you or, donate or give them away
Host a going away party with friends/family – don’t forget the kids’ friends! Have a sleepover party!

Check out Car Rental/Hotel/Motel options.
Finalize packing your “overnight” luggage.
Contact your new local Chamber of Commerce for community information.
Finalize packing your boxes.
Set aside “overnight” kitchen, bath and bedroom items for your transition.
Arrange to have cash or credit cards available during the transition for incidentals(food/fuel) and determine the amount for the
  movers.

 LAST-MINUTE REMINDERS
Have available parking for your moving truck.
Pick up rental cars and top off the gas tank!
Load “overnight” luggage (important papers; currency, jewelry, kitchen/bath & bedroom items) – these items should be with you at all
  times!
Walk through the home with the movers identifying the items you wish to have immediately upon arrival at your new home. Try to
  have those items grouped in one location to be loaded last on the truck.
Describe the layout of the new location so the drivers will know immediately where items should be placed.
  Remember to label your boxes!
Double-check all your keys – keys to be turned in and keys to your new home.
