| One of our Specialized Services is providing our Customers with International
Relocation Services. There are many obstacles involved with
successfully transporting your goods overseas, namely Customs,
shipping and handling surcharges and affordability. Modern Movers has the specialized knowledge and experience to ensure that nothing falls through
the cracks. Moving overseas can be both intimidating and exciting,
particularly for the person who has lived abroad before there
are understandable anxieties about the safe handling of your
household possessions. International shipments are especially
very costly because of the extra liability and distance involved
with transporting your goods overseas. |

| At the time your goods are loaded (and again at delivery) you will sign an agreement with your international moving company known as an “order for service”. It will contain all charges for services performed, in addition to terms and conditions under which your goods are to be moved. On the “order for service” you will choose the level of carrier liability for your goods in terms of dollars and cents per pound, per item/package. This choice will provide some compensation to you in the event items are lost or damaged, but does not eliminate the need for separate insurance Even the highest level of carrier liability is not adequate protection by itself. Also, to protect yourself financially, take pictures of your furniture and valuables as proof of ownership in the event of loss or damage. In addition, photograph anything that might need to be disassembled for transit so the destination crew will know how to reassemble the items. |

| Packing Services |

| Modern Movers takes special care of its international moves by assigning you a Personal Moving Coordinator who will visit your home at a convenient time to discuss and tailor the best relocation to suit your needs. Your Personal Moving Coordinator will discuss the various documents required for your move; the expected Customs procedures and related fees (if any), as well as overseas shipping and handling charges. All of these factors will impact your overall costs. |

| Your Personal Moving Coordinator and specialized Moving Team, experienced in packing and loading will arrive at your home well in advance of your targeted move date to inventory and pack your possessions for overseas shipping. Your breakable items will be individually wrapped, packaged and stored in the appropriate transport container. We have specialized packing supplies exclusively used for our International Moves to protect against damages during transport. |

| Once your shipment is prepared for loading, it will be placed, pad-wrapped and secured in one or more transport containers. The type of transport container(s) to be utilized for your move will have been determined during your preliminary discussions and coordination with your Personal Moving Coordinator. (An explanation of the types of containers is provided below). |

| Our fees for packing services are based on the number of boxes we pack for you, not the time it takes to pack your items. So you won’t have to worry about affording hourly fees or the job costing you extra money. That is why your Personal Moving Coordinator is so important early in the coordination phases of your move to guarantee you the most cost-effective relocation services for you. Your Personal Moving Coordinator will discuss all your moving needs, costs, questions, tips and techniques so you can be well prepared for your Worldwide Relocation. | Shipping Containers |
There are several types of transport containers that can be used for your international shipment. They are “lift-vans”, “Steamship containers”; and “Air containers”. Lift vans are wooden or plywood containers with skids that are normally loaded by a forklift. These containers are supplied by Steamship companies, range in size from 185 to 210 cubic feet and are lined with water-resistant paper and/or caulking to prevent leakage.
To transport small shipments by air, the most common containers used are called “tri-wall” boxes, which range in size from 5 to 100 cub feet, and are constructed of triple-layer corrugated cardboard. Crates may be used for large shipments and must comply with certain dimensional specifications to meet aircraft cargo requirements. |

| Types of Transportation |
| Your shipment will be forwarded via one or more modes of the following transportation:
motor freight carrier; railroad; steamship line; airline. After
your shipment has been packed and loaded on our Truck, it will
be transported to the port of country exit. Depending on the
type of transportation selected for your shipment, the appropriate
container(s) will be loaded into a vessel or an aircraft. Transit
time for goods in transport is calculated based on the distance
to be covered and the time required to clear customs. These
factors will affect the transit time and overall cost for your
shipment. |

| Shipping Costs |
Your Personal Moving Coordinator will inventory all the items to be transported out of your home and will go over all the transport options with you, and discuss the costs for packing and transporting your shipment. Some charges that will not be included in your estimate include: Extra pickups or deliveries; servicing of electrical appliances; and additional insurance in case any item is lost or damaged in transit. Modern Movers prides itself in no hidden costs and your Personal Moving Coordinator will detail all your anticipated costs to ship your items to your new country.
Other expenses you may have to plan for prior to your move may include travel accommodations, travel insurance, customs duties and/or taxes on your household goods; possible storage of your belongings at origin and/or destination (Modern Movers can store your items for up to 30 days to accommodate your transportation methods); shipping your car (plus customs duties, and automobile conversion to meet government standards); document fees for passport, visa and permits; inoculations and/or any physical examination(s). Other costs to keep in mind may include temporary housing until a permanent residence is found or your furnishings arrive; cross-cultural training in advance of your move; and/or tuition costs if your children will be in a private school abroad or in a boarding school at home. |

| Payment for Services |
Payment for the various International Relocation Services must be received before the goods are actually moved to the port of exit. As soon as your shipment is prepared for transport, you will be notified of the actual charges (based on weight, distance to travel, packing services, and any additional insurance coverage premiums). Payment is accepted by cashier’s check, cash, Visa or Mastercard. No personal checks may be accepted. Any corporate transfers will require a purchase order or letter of authorization from the company.
Oftentimes, payment to the customs officials or destination agent will be required in the currency of your new country. Any additional charges not included in your transportation cost (extra pickups or deliveries, storage, etc.) must be paid to the destination agent prior to delivery. |

| Planning Ahead |
Careful pre-planning for your overseas move is critical and how efficiently it is coordinated can be the difference between a smooth transition and one that is laden with problems and headaches. Your Personal Moving Coordinator will discuss everything you should expect in advance of your targeted Relocation and planned accordingly with your Personal Moving Coordinator. The importance of planning your move well in advance is essential. Please try to plan your move for regular working days to avoid overtime charges incurred on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Avoid moving during the first or last week of any month (these tend to be the busiest moving times) and check your destination country’s holiday schedule so your move won’t overlap those times and cause you unnecessary delays or costs.
